FUTO Merit Admission List 2014/2015 Announced and Notice of Payments

FUTO UTME MERIT LIST has been released, and text messages have been sent to successful candidates via their phone numbers.

However, all candidates can visit FUTO website to check their admission status as follows:

Go to admission status checking portal by clicking here

Enter your UTME (Jamb) Reg. No as it appeared on your previously printed photo card.

And click on "Next"

Successful candidates (those who received the message: "You have been admitted" after entering their UTME numbers) could proceed to designated banks to pay Acceptance Fee of N40, 000 and obtain E-Tranzact receipt, after which they would come back to FUTO website and follow the below procedure:

(i)Go to http://utme.futo.edu.ng/student/MyResult.aspx

(ii)Enter your UTME (Jamb) Reg. No as it appeared on your previously printed photo card.

(iii)Click “Next” button

N.B: If you have been admitted, kindly continue with the below procedure

(iii)Click on the "Continue to Payment" link

(iv)Enter your E-Tranzact Confirmation order and Receipt number

(v)Click "Submit" .

(vi)Print out your "Acceptance Form" and "Admission Letter"

(vii)Keep your "Acceptance Form" and "Admission Letter" until you receive further instructions from FUTO website on the commencement of registration exercise for newly admitted students.

Note, in particular, that you would not receive any further attention from the departments and the Admission unit, until further instructions are given on FUTO website, announcing the commencement of registration exercise for the newly admitted students.

YABATECH Expels 19

The Director of Public Relations, at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) Dr Charles Oni has revealed that 19 students of the institution has been expelled as they were found guilty of violating Section 14 (2) and Section 11 (4) of the college’s regulation, which is contained in the students’ handbook.


According to the Dean Students’Affairs, Mr O.T. Raheem, said the students were expelled for indulging in vices, such as take advantage of, cultism and examination malpractices among others.

However, one of the expelled students has described the expulsion as an act of victimization.

Kwara State, Ondo State, Schools to Open Monday

The Kwara State government has directed primary and secondary schools to resume on Monday.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) had directed its members not to resume, until their demands on the control of the Ebola Viral Disease (EVD) were met. The Commissioner for Education, Saka Onimago, asked all schools to provide basic hygiene materials, such as washing bowls, soap and towels.
 
Onimago, in a statement, directed two teachers from each school to undergo training on Ebola prevention, adding that the programme would begin as soon as the federal ministries of Health and Education provide the necessary facilities. He said the new school fees of N750 per term had been fixed for senior secondary schools, N500 for junior secondary and N250 for primary schools.

Also, the Ondo State government has directed all public and private schools to resume on Monday.
Commissioner for Information Kayode Akinmade, in a statement, said the government has made provision for the safe return of pupils to their schools.

He said the state has lined up activities to sensitise the public, headteachers and teachers on how to prevent the disease.

The statement said scanners would be distributed to schools for early detection of contagious diseases.
The statement said meeting and sensitization are on-going among education and health officials as well as stakeholders in the primary and secondary education system.

Akinmade said government has also brought in a disinfection expert from the United Kingdom to train in the prevention of the disease. But in Niger State, the government has fixed October 10 for the resumption for all schools.

The government said the new date was informed by the Eid-el-Kabir festival expected to hold in the first week of October.

The new date was announced when Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu received a delegation of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) in his office yesterday.

Aliyu said most pupils would want to celebrate the festival with their parents, hence the September 22 date will not work.

"Most of the children will want to witness the slaughtering of rams and participate in other post-Sallah festivities," Aliyu said.

He said fixing the resumption date for Friday would enable pupils in boarding schools to tidy their surroundings for classes to begin on Monday.

Lack of Discipline - ABU Lecturer Caught In Prohibited Female Hostel

It’s both funny and calmly stupid, that those who are expected and in the position to enforce the law, are the very ones breaking it! According to information we have confirmed today, a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), which is situated in Zaria was caught on Sunday night, trying to sneak into a private female hostel in the school campus.

 
We were informed that the lecturer disguised himself by wearing a Hijab (which is the muslim veil for females only) and attempted to sneak into the hostel before he was intercepted by the school security.

According to Khalifa Sha’aibu, who witness everything, disclosed to Dailyschoolnews.com.ng, that this is not the first time the lecturer was entering the hostel to visit his girl friend, further alleging that he’s been visiting the hostel for some times now, and on a regular basis.

Sha’aibu further said and we quote:
“The most alarming fact, is that the lecturer, whom i respected very must, is using the Hijab and as a Muslim, I feel sad that somebody would use something that we respect, to perpetrate crime. This wonder why this lecturer don’t get himself a room to continue this act. He was caught by a vigilante member that noticed the structure of the man, which is quite different from a female body built and exposed him.
After the Vigilante member caught him, we discovered that he has been entering the hostel with the consent of the girl. The owner of the private hostel had barred men from entering the rooms for security reasons and to stop imoral acts.

It was further gathered that the lecturer was handed over to a team of army personnel around the school gate.

We were also informed that the Law officers have ransacked the lecturer’s house for any other information which would expose his illegal action which he’s been carrying out in the school.

When contacted, Director of Public Affairs in the university, Dr. Ismail Shehu, said he heard something like that but that no official report has been made.

He added that when an official report is received, the university will take action.

He disclosed and we quote: “It’s been a long time tradition and all students, including working staff are aware, that ABU does not tolerate any form and act of indiscipline. Full investigation would be carried out and both the lecturer and student would be punished accordingly. There is no doubt about that”

UNN Staff Request Form 2014/2015

This is to inform interested staff of the university that staff request form for admission into the University for 2014/2015 session is available in the UNN web portal for the consideration of staff, their spouses and biological children who scored 200 or above in the PUTME or Direct Entry Screening Exercise but were not in the 2014 Primary Admission List.



Interested staff should:
1) Visit the University of Nigeria Website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (www.portal.unn.edu.ng), log in your JAMB Registration number to generate and download a unique Payment Invoice for Staff Request form fee. Take the Invoice to any branch of Zenith bank or UBA on the e-tranzact platform to pay two thousand naira (N2, 000.00) Staff Request Form Fee. Ensure that the Invoice Number is keyed in appropriately at the bank and obtain a confirmation slip containing a Confirmation Number and your Invoice Number.

2) Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (www.portal.unn.edu.ng) again and login your JAMB Registration Number, the Confirmation Number and Invoice Number, then, print the Staff Request Slip and complete the Staff Request Form online.
3) Applications open on Monday, 15th September and closes on Friday 26th September, 2014.

Inter-University Transfer In Nigeria - How to

To begin with, inter-University transfer is possible in Nigeria. In other words, you can transfer from one degree programme in an approved Nigerian University to the same or another Degree programme in another Approved University.

A student studying medicine at Madonna University can apply for and successfully transfer his medical programme to the College of Medicine at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN via the inter-University transfer form. If such a student fails to meet the requested requirement for the transfer to Medicine at UNN, he might opt to transfer to the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Nigeria.

WHICH UNIVERSITIES ACCEPT TRANSFER
However, as at the time of writing this publication, only a number of Universities in Nigeria, accepts the inter-University transfer, from or to other Universities, so you can do well to ask questions by comment below this post on the school you want to transfer to and from.

Some Universities that accept/allow for Inter-University transfer includes;
• The Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU,
• The University of Ibadan, UI,
• The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN,
• The Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology, LAUTECH
• The University of Ilorin, UNILORIN

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR TRANSFER
The basic requirements for the inter-University transfer vary from University to University, so do well to contact the admission office of the selected University to know their requirements.

However, the basic requirement for any inter-University transfer any applicant should note is that;
1. No school will admit you beyond 200l, second year and your C.G.P.A must be very strong enough.
2. Be ready to continue with course you are studying
3. Your UTME score is also required. That is, if You scored 180 and the cut off for the university you finally choose was 200 then its not possible.

As well as other departmental requirements, example, medicine JAMB cut-off for UNILORIN is 240, etc.

WHEN IS THE FORM OUT
The Inter-University transfer form is usually out at the end of the second semester of the school you are transferring to. It usually coincide with the Direct Entry admission period of that school.


HOW DO I APPLY
To begin your application for the inter-University transfer;

1. First, you need to write to your school your intentions of transferring, they will of course grant your move
2. If your move is granted by your parent institution, they University will then withhold your admission, which means that you have ceased to be a student of that University.
3. At this point, you can then make an application to your choice institution on your desire to be admitted.

NOTE: If your request for inter-University transfer is not granted, that is, not accepted by the University you are transferring to, you can only return to your former Institution as a fresher and not to continue as an undergraduate, regardless of your level before the transfer.
This means that, as a 400 level student of the Enugu State University, ESUT, you apply for transfer to UNN, and eventually failed, you are going to return to ESUT as a 100 Level student and no longer as a 400 level student.

HOW MUCH IS THE INTER-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER FORM
Just like the requirements vary, the cost of the form by University also vary by session.

The cost at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN at this time is N70,000 (Seventy Thousand Naira Only), payable by E-Tranzact.

UNILORIN acceptance for the Inter-University admission is pegged at N350,000.

Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), the fastest growing university in Africa, hereby gives notice that the following scholarships designed to promote quality, equity and relevance in education are available in 2014/2015 academic session.

(a) Prospective Indigent Students

· An indigent applicant who has at least six (6) A1 in WAEC or NECO and who qualifies in his chosen course may apply for ABUAD scholarship.

· He shall be entitled to scholarship for free tuition and free accommodation.

· He shall provide evidence of financial incapacity.

· He must be industrious and disciplined.

· He must abstain completely from drugs and alcohol

· He must not be a cultist and must not belong to any group or club of cultists.



(b) Undergraduates in ABUAD

The following scholarships are available for undergraduate students in the university:

· Students with 5.0 CGPA and above – N500,000 each

· Students with 4.75 – 4.99 CGPA – N200,000 each

· Students with 4.75 CGPA – N100,000 each

· Merit awards – N100,000 each

- Most disciplined student

- Best dressed student

- Outstanding student leader

- Sports man of the year

- Sports woman of the year

- Cleanest hostel user (Male and Female)



(c)ABUAD Undergraduates who lose parents or guardians while studying in the university

· Such student shall enjoy full scholarship (as the university has done in the past)



(d)Prospective students who choose to study Agriculture in ABUAD

· 50% reduction in tuition fee

· Work and study opportunity to earn extra money for services rendered on the farm, in the cafeteria, factory, library and hostel.

· Provision for financial assistance to graduates to facilitate self employment



(e)Parents who have 2 or more students in ABUAD

Parents who have more than one child shall be entitled to 25% discount on tuition fee.



(f)Staff who have biological children studying in ABAUD

Staff who have biological children studying in ABUAD shall be entitled to 25% discount on tuition fee.



(g)ABUAD Lecturers and potential Lecturers

· Full payment of salary to lecturers with permission to attend post-graduate courses in Nigerian universities.

· Financial assistance to lecturers who want to study abroad

· Financial support to lecturers to attend conferences

· Financial assistance to support and undertake research

Merit Awards

· For best dressed lecturer, 2014

· Most disciplined lecturer, 2014

· Lecturer of the year, 2014

· Most engaged lecturer, 2014

· Most punctual lecturer, 2014

· Most persevering lecturer, 2014

· Most outstanding non-teaching staff, 2014



· Most dutiful non-teaching staff, 2014.
